Dr. Eugene “Gene” Millard Baldwin, age 84, of Mechanicsburg, passed to eternal rest on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. Gene was born on Sunday, December 10, 1939 in Philadelphia to the late Eugene John Brautigam and Mildred Emily (Baldwin) Tichy. Gene was the widower of Susan Carol (Risheill) Baldwin, whom he married on November 29, 1963, and who passed to eternal rest on July 2, 2023.
Gene’s survivors include his three children: Wayne Andrew Baldwin of Mechanicsburg, Aimee Lou Sims of Harrisburg, Jennifer Ann Swinchock, husband Scott, of Camp Hill; his two grandsons: Joshua Delbert Sims, wife Kerry, Zachary Baldwin Sims, wife Dr. Kayla; and his precious great-granddaughter: Rosemary Sky Sims.
Following high school graduation, Gene attended Kutztown and Temple Universities and earned his doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania. He was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church for over 55 years. Gene retired as the principal of Cumberland Valley Eagle View Middle School in 1997. Following “retirement” he went on to supervise student teachers at Messiah University. An avid sports fan, Gene enthusiastically supported the Eagles, Phillies and Penn State athletics. Family was paramount to him, and he cherished his wife, Susan and his family. Gene relished in exploring the world through travel and spending quality time with family at the beach (despite his dislike of sand). He had a sweet tooth, always making room for desserts, especially pie. During his leisure time, Gene enjoyed reading and playing golf. He will be greatly missed by all those fortunate to have been in his life.
All are welcome to join Gene’s family at his viewing on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a service beginning at 12:00 p.m. all at St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church, 4200 Carlisle Pike, Camp Hill, PA 17011; with Pastor Roger G.
