A Great Guy -

Eugene “Gene” Augustus Brannock, age 86, of Mechanicsburg, passed away while being comforted by his loving family on Monday, August 26, 2019.  Gene was born on Sunday, January 1, 1933 in Rome, GA to the late Wesley Max Brannock and Elizabeth Remell (Eagle) Brannock.  In addition to his parents, Gene is preceded in death by his grandson, Robert Joseph Burton, and his sister, Patricia Lipscomb.

Gene’s survivors include his wife of almost 63 years, Roberta “Bobbie” Helene (Busch) Brannock; his two children: Cynthia “Cindy” Burton of Elkridge, MD, and John Brannock and his wife, Christina, of Littleton, CO; his five grandchildren: Christopher Burton, Jennifer Cobleigh, Mark Brannock, Patrick Burton, and James Brannock; and his beloved grand-dogs: Brownie, Lucy, Baylee and Jessie.

Gene graduated from Gadsden High School and from the University of Alabama.  In earlier life, Gene was employed at General Electric, in Syracuse, NY and Silver Spring, MD, for ten years; Informatics in Rockville, MD; Weston Company in West Chester, PA and later retired from Aspen Systems Inc. in Rockville, MD, on April 1, 2005 as an Executive Senior VP.  Gene was an active member of Oak Dale United Methodist Church in Olney, MD, where he served on numerous committees over the years.  More recently, he attended Camp Hill United Methodist Church when his health allowed.  Gene proudly served his country in the United States Army.  Gene loved the outdoors and he spent many hours tending his flower beds and vegetable gardens as well as maintaining his lawn.  Gene and Bobbie loved traveling the world together, visiting much of the United States, Europe and Asia.  They especially enjoyed visiting the exotic lands of Egypt, Turkey, Greece and China.  Gene was a skilled carpenter who took great satisfaction in building many things with his own hands. Gene’s prowess cooking over an open flame garnered him the title of “Superior Grill Master”.  Gene frequently uttered “Roll Tide” in support of the Alabama Crimson Tide Football Team.  Gene was a great guy, whose easy going demeanor helped to build many good and lasting friendships.  His work ethic and academic abilities are just a few of the many positive traits he passed on to his children and grandchildren.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
