Eugene “Gene” Lewis Brown, Jr., age 70, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021.  Gene was born on Friday, June 8, 1951, in Glasgow, KY to the late Eugene Lewis Brown, Sr. and Opal Mae (Jackson) Brown.

Gene’s survivors include his wife of 48 years, Jeune Marie (Lawrence) Brown; his two children: Stephanie Troy and husband, John, of Mechanicsburg, Eric Brown and wife, Lauren, of Mechanicsburg; his four beloved grandchildren: Heidi, Gretchen, Chase and Blake; and his three siblings: Larry Pride, Nancy Sipes and Zana Estes.

Gene loved life and was totally dedicated to his family. He wanted to teach his four grandkids every little thing about nature and enjoying the world and about being kind. He believed that helping people was first and foremost. He was son, husband, father, uncle, cousin, but the most adored title was Papaw. He was so proud to be a dad, that was the cake, Papaw was the icing.

All are welcome to join Gene’s family at his celebration of life open house and gathering of family and friends on Thursday, December 2, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a time of remembrance at 1:00 p.m. at Buhrig’s Gathering Place, 25 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, (717) 766-3421 (next to Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory).  Over 100 parking spaces are available; just look for the “Buhrig” parking signs in all of the parking lots.  Cremation was private.

In keeping with Gene’s allergies, the family will not be accepting flowers and invite those wishing to celebrate Gene’s life with a memorial contribution to Speranza Animal Rescue, 1216 Brandt Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, www.speranzarescue.org.
