A Good Provider and Loving Husband -

Eugene Marlin Sheaffer, age 52, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Thursday, February 23, 2017, a result of a sudden stroke.  Marlin was born on Tuesday, December 15, 1964 in Camp Hill to the late Elmer Eugene Sheaffer and Ruby Mae (Shaffer) Sheaffer.  In addition to his parents, Marlin is preceded in death by his two siblings.

Marlin’s survivors include loving wife of 12 years, Pamela “Pam” Dawn (Cason) Sheaffer; his three children: Clarissa Ryan and her partner, Nathen Burd, and their daughter, Keely of Fleetwood, Codie Smyser of Mechanicsburg, Tyler Smyser of Mechanicsburg; his five siblings; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Jetta.  He was also survived by his mother, Ruby Mae (Shaffer) Sheaffer, who went to be with her husband and son two days after her son’s death.

Marlin attended Susquenita High School and graduated from Cumberland Valley High School.  He was a member of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg and was affiliated with Boy Scout Troop 180.  Marlin loved to work and was employed by Boscov’s for over 28 years and UPS Freight for over 10 years.  He enjoyed playing Cornhole and was known as the Bocce king.  Marlin had a profound love of animals and squirrels held a special place in his heart.  He had an obsession for coffee, which he looked forward to enjoying with his buddies at Sheetz every day.  Marlin was known to crack open a beer on the weekends and he enjoyed eating all types of food.  Most importantly, he was a good provider for his family and was a loving husband.  Marlin was an extremely generous man who will be missed by his family and all of his friends.

All are welcome to join Marlin’s family at his gathering of family and friends on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, from 2:30 p.m. until time of service at 4:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor Aaron M. Erdley officiating.

All of Marlin’s family and friends are encouraged to join the family at Stage & Studio Café, next door to Myers – Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, from 4:45 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. to celebrate Marlin’s life.  You are encouraged to arrive when you are able and to bring a covered dish or dessert to share.

Contributions in celebration of Marlin’s life can be made to an animal society of the donor’s choosing.
