Floyd Andrew Fahnestock, Sr.

Beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather -

Floyd Andrew Fahnestock, Sr., age 90, of Mechanicsburg, died at home on Sunday, October 25, 2015.  Floyd was born on Saturday, July 11, 1925 in Mechanicsburg to the late Harry A. Fahnestock and Florence (Myers) Fahnestock.  Floyd was the widower of Betty Arlene (Moyer) Fahnestock, whom he married on August 3, 1946, and who died on January 12, 2007.  In addition to his parents and wife, Floyd is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kimberly Fahnestock Voelz, his brother, Harry Fahnestock, Jr., and his sisters, Doris Fahnestock and Jesse Hill.

Floyd’s survivors include his two sons: Floyd A. Fahnestock, Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Carlisle, Steven A. Fahnestock and his wife, Rebecca, of Mechanicsburg; his six grandchildren:  Mark A. Fahnestock, Jill Whitzel, Jamie Hoffman, Kelly Bonner, Chad Fahnestock, Dawn Fahnestock; and his 12 great-grandchildren.

Floyd proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.  He retired from Navy Ships Parts Control Center in Mechanicsburg.  Floyd was a member of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg, and he was a member of numerous organizations, including: American Legion Post 109, VFW Post 477, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Perry-Juniata Shrine Club, Cumberland County Shrine Club, Adams County Shrine Club, Hershey Shrine Club, Lancaster Shrine Club, Zembo Ushers Unit, Eureka Lodge No. 302 F & AM , Past Potentate Club as a past Potentate with the Zembo Shrine in 1992, and Monroe Township Little League and Teener League , where Floyd was active for over 14 years and served as president of the Little League.  Floyd was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed.

All are welcome to join Floyd’s family at his viewing on Thursday, October 29, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor Aaron M. Erdley officiating.  Burial will follow in Mechanicsburg Cemetery in Mechanicsburg, where military honors will be presented by Cumberland County Honor Guard .

The family suggests memorial contributions to Trindle Spring Lutheran Church , 14 State Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050; or to Zembo Shrine Harrisburg , 2801 North Third Street, #2, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
