Frank Austin Shilling
Loved His Yard -
Frank Austin Shilling, 88, a resident of Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and formerly of Camp Hill died at Carlisle Regional Medical Center on Thursday, October 25, 2012. He was born in Brookville, on Thursday, January 3, 1924, son of the late Samuel Austin Shilling and Mary (Plyler) Shilling. Frank was the husband of Sue (Barnes) Shilling whom he married on May 4, 1946.
Frank attended Brookville Area Schools. He retired from TRW in Harrisburg, after 30 years of service working as a Plant Supervisor. Frank was a US Army WW II Veteran serving three years in India, and a member of the Ohio National Guard, serving in Korea. He was life member of Camp Hill VFW Post #7530, Dillsburg American Legion Post #26, and Carlisle Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lodge #1299. Frank also enjoyed working in his yard, his workshop, and putting together jigsaw puzzles.
Frank’s survivors include his loving wife of 66 years Sue; a son, Dr. Daniel Shilling and his wife Pamela of Phoenix, AZ; a daughter, Debra Bricker and her husband Ross of Outer Banks, NC; two grandsons, Michael Hughes and his wife Alice of New Cumberland and Zachary Bricker of Camp Hill; two great-granddaughters, Emma and Hannah Hughes of New Cumberland; four brothers, Earl Shilling and his wife Mary of Greenville, Cliff Shilling and his wife Mary Louise of Dunnellon, FL, Don Shilling and his wife Ann of Orlando, FL, Dean Shilling and his wife Karma of Orlando, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Among those preceding Frank in death are a son, David Shilling and a brother, Robert Shilling.
Cremation and services will be private and at the family’s convenience.
