Franklin “Frank” James Barron, Jr.

Franklin “Frank” James Barron, Jr., 82, of Mechanicsburg and formerly of Ligonier died at Holy Spirit Hospital on Monday, January 23, 2012. He was born in Indian Head on Saturday, June 1, 1929 son of the late Franklin James Barron, Sr. and Lenora (Lightner) Barron. Frank was the husband of Doris Gertrude (Clawson) Barron who he married on January 22, 1949. They just celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.
Family was everything to Frank and his wife was loved with all his heart. He was a man who loved wooden ships and who built over 25 large wooden ship models and then shared them with his family. They will stand as a loving tribute to Frank’s love of his family. He liked to cook and eat good food. Frank enjoyed music of all kinds and he and Dorris greatly enjoyed watching and listening to Lawrence Welk. He loved football and adored Joe Paterno.
Frank’s survivors include his loving wife of 63 years: Doris Gertrude (Clawson) Barron; three children: Gary James Barron and his wife Swe of California, Cynthia L. Baum and her husband Timothy of Mechanicsburg, Dr. Bruce A. Barron and his wife Marie of New York; three grandsons; four granddaughters; four great grandchildren; two sisters; and several nieces and nephews. Among those preceding Frank in death are his parents and three sisters.
All are welcome to join Frank’s family at his viewing on Thursday, January 26, 2012, from 1:00 until time of service at 1:30 at The Chapel at Messiah Village, 100 Mount Allen Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA, 17055 with Pastor Debby Bentch officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg. Honored to be pallbearers are: Scott Baum, Matthew Morgan, Timothy Baum, Bruce Weaver, Bruce Barron, and Thomas Baum.
