A Strong Willed Women -
Frieda Kathryn (Stoner) Foose, age 100, of Enola, passed away at home and surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, August 15, 2021. Frieda was born on Wednesday, March 16, 1921, in Mechanicsburg to the late Francis Ellsworth Stoner and Carrie Belle (Zeigler) Stoner. Frieda was the widow of Robert “Bob” Eugene Foose, whom she married on August 8, 1947, and who died on October 22, 1998. In addition to her parents and husband, Frieda is preceded in death by three siblings, Francis Leonard Stoner, Velva Grace Arnold and Ida Mae Stoner.
Frieda’s survivors include her three children: Ronald Eugene Foose and wife, Joan, of Cromwell, CT; Diana Kay Milligan and companion, Edward Houser, of Mechanicsburg; Debra Ann Foose and husband, Gregory Hinkle, of Baltimore, MD; her five grandchildren: Shealyn Marino, Casey Milligan, Connor Hinkle, Skye Osborne and Austin Foose; her eight great-grandchildren: Aydia Falvo, Emitt Milligan, Harper Milligan, Hayden Milligan, Tanner Marino, Colten Marino, Carter Osborne and Landon Osborne; and several nieces and nephews.
Frieda graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1939. She retired from East Pennsboro Township in Enola, after many years of service working as a secretary. Frieda was a lifelong member of Young’s United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg, where she served as Sunday school teacher, choir director for the adult and youth choir, a member of the choir and as organist and pianist. She loved to plant flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting: scarves, hats, doilies, afghans and Christmas ornaments. Frieda was a talented musician, who played the piano and organ. Frieda was an excellent baker. Her family and friends always enjoyed her scrumptious cookies and delicious pies. She volunteered for Mission Central in Mechanicsburg and for Project Share of the Carlisle food pantry. Her family remember her as a kind and caring person, who was always willing to help. Frieda loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family will miss her greatly.
All are welcome to join Frieda’s family at her visitation on Monday, August 30, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. with a service beginning at 11:30 a.m. all at Young’s United Methodist Church, 7075 Wertzville Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050; with Pastor Robert V. Bishard Jr. officiating. Frieda’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at her church immediately following the service. Burial will follow the reception in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery in Enola.
The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to her caregivers, Joy Hurley, Lisa Darhower and Mary Simmons and everyone at Homeland Hospice who so lovingly cared for Frieda during her illness.
