Gary Ambrose Fuchs

Gary Ambrose Fuchs passed away in Greensboro, NC on July 12, 2023, after a battle with leukemia. Born in Pittsburgh, PA in 1953, he was the son of the late Raymond Sr. and Marie Fuchs. He was a graduate of Bethel Park High School (1971), Penn State University (B.S., 1974) and Shippensburg University (M.S., 1978).  After graduating from Penn State with a degree in education, he spent 34 years teaching at Northern York School District in Dillsburg, PA.  

Always an avid cyclist, Gary turned to endurance sports after his retirement, completing over 70 triathlons, including numerous Ironman events. He achieved “All World Athlete” status in 2020.  

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Kathy, his daughter Kate Tabori (Alex), his son Dan, and his two grandchildren Nicholas and Emily Tabori. He is also survived by his sisters Jean Green and Carol Frantz (Alan) along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Raymond Jr. earlier this year.  

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday September 8, 2023, at the Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church at 300 East Simpson Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. Visitation with the family begins at 10:00 AM, the service begins at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will follow in the church’s Fellowship Hall. At Gary’s request, the dress is to be casual and colorful. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jimmy V Foundation, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, or a charity of your choice.
