Gerald “Jerry” Eugene Lucas, age 68, of Camp Hill, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully after being comforted by his family on Monday, November 14, 2016. Jerry was born on Wednesday, March 10, 1948 in Mechanicsburg to the late Clair Herbert Lucas and Frances Irene (Thompson) Lucas. Jerry was the widower of Sharon “Dewey” E. Lucas, whom he was married to for 34 years, and who died on December 8, 2006.
Jerry’s survivors include his loving wife of seven years, Linda Cindy (Waite) Lucas; his three children: Jerry A. Lucas and his wife, Crystal, and their children: Cole and Jacob, of Carlisle, Jerry Moyer and his wife, Mischelle, and their children: Bailey and Owen, of Shiremanstown, Wendy Preun and her husband, Mark, and their son, Tyler, of Dillsburg; his two grandchildren: Alishia, Nicholas; his great-granddaughter, Peyton; his brother, Harold Lucas and his wife, Jean, of Lewisberry; and his niece and two nephews.
Jerry graduated from Mechanicsburg Area Senior High School as part of the class of 1967. He retired from Quaker Oats in Mechanicsburg, after around 20 years of service working as an equipment mechanic. He was a member of the Mechanicsburg Club and the Washington Fire Company No. 1. Jerry was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State Nittany Lions fan. He enjoyed going hunting, fishing, fixing things, and watching any hunting shows on TV. Jerry used to work on the burn out strip at South Mountain Raceway and on racecars at Silver Spring Speedway as well as at other local dirt tracks. Most importantly, he loved to spend time with his grandkids. Jerry liked to take his grandsons fishing and to watch them play football, baseball, and wrestle.
All are welcome to join Jerry’s family at his viewing on Saturday, November 19, 2016, from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant Alan Echard officiating.
Burial will follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Mechanicsburg. Honored to be pallbearers are Jerry Lucas, Cole Lucas, Jacob Lucas, Bailey Moyer, Owen Moyer, and Tyler Preun.
