Gerald "Mac" McQuilling

Gerald “Mac” E McQuilling, age 99, resided in Mechanicsburg, with his daughter died on Wednesday, December 25, 2024. Mac was born on Tuesday, November 24, 1925, in Franklin, IN to the late Earl McQuilling and Edna (Brown) McQuilling. Mac was the widow of Mary Louise (Guetling) McQuilling, whom he married on January 17, 1953, and who died on February 21, 2004. In addition to his parents and wife, Mac is preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth McQuilling and his beloved dachshund, Sampson.

Mac’s survivors include his two children: Karen Christy of Mechanicsburg and Jeffrey McQuilling and his wife, Jo Ellen of Evansville, IN; his three grandchildren: James Christy II, Melissa McQuilling, and Douglas McQuilling; and his four great-grandchildren: Ethan Christy, Madelyn Christy, Ridley McQulling, and Riftan McQuilling.

Mac graduated from Franklin High School as part of the class of 1943 and from Drake University in Des Moines, IA with a degree in engineering and excelled in track and field . He retired from Randolph Brooks Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX , after many years of service working as a civil engineer. 

Mac was a fun-loving man. He loved his family and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed golfing and loved to travel, having taken cruises to Hawaii, the Mediterranean, and the Bahamas. Mac was a referee for different high school football teams. He was a handyman and always had a project. Mac will be dearly missed by all those fortunate to have been in his life.

Mac’s family will be remembering his life privately. Interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Evansville, IN will be at the family’s convenience. Cremation was private.
