The Backbone of Her Family -
Geraldine Catherine (Jones) Miller, age 93, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully at home and surrounded by her loving family on Monday, April 26, 2021. Geraldine was born on Monday, January 9, 1928, in Chester to the late John Carl Jones and Sylvia (Wentz) Wonders. Geraldine was the widow of James “Pap” Lester Miller, Jr., whom she married on May 6, 1944, and who died on October 28, 2015. In addition to her parents and husband, Geraldine is preceded in death by her grandson, Thomas Brison and her two brothers: John Carl Jones and Robert Jones.
Geraldine’s survivors include her two children: Carol Hummer and husband, George, of Mechanicsburg, Jack Miller, Sr. and wife, Peggy, of Shermans Dale; her 12 grandchildren: Ronald Barrick, David Barrick, Jack Miller, Jr., Melinda Green, Jim Miller, Andy Hummer, Ashley Freeman, Donald Brison, Lois Barthel, Cheryl Oaks, Brice Brison, Jeff Brison; her 23 great-grandchildren: Ronnie, Amanda, Nicole, Dakota, Brandon, Dustin, Jarrett, Ricky, Krissy, Joey, Ross, Bree, Cheyenna, Clayton, Hannah, Chey, Halie, Logan, Kay-Kay, PJ, Cody, Cole, Wyatt; and her 13 great-great-grandchildren: AJ, Jayden, Cameron, Everly, Sadie, Ellie, Bella, Nova Rae, Avian, Kylee, Nova, Jackson, Rebel; and her step-sister, Denise Wonders.
Geraldine retired at the age of 62 from Barrett Dental Laboratories, after many years of service working as a dental technician. She was an avid seamstress, an amazing cook, and great flower gardener. Geraldine liked country music and enjoyed going square dancing with her husband. She had an independent spirit, which was evident in her love of doing things herself. Geraldine was the backbone of her family; and as the matriarch, she called the shots. She loved children and was always available to babysit when needed. Geraldine cherished the times when her family and friends could all get together. Her selfless attitude and willingness to help endeared her to all. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
All are welcome to join Geraldine’s family on Friday, April 30, 2021 with arrival between 10:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. The procession will leave Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory promptly at 10:40 a.m. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill; with Pastor Ronald O’Neil officiating. Friends and family are invited for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place, 25 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, (717) 766-3421 (next to Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory), immediately following the burial. Over 100 parking spaces are available; just look for the “Buhrig” parking signs in all of our parking lots.
