Geraldine “Jean” Elizabeth (Basehore) Beil, 86, of Mechanicsburg , died peacefully at home on Saturday, March 16, 2013. She was born in Mechanicsburg, on Wednesday, September 29, 1926, daughter of the late George Milton Basehore and Charlotte Alberta (Brenneman) Basehore. Jean was the widower of Willard “Jack” Russel Beil whom she married on May 29, 1945 and who died on December 21, 1973.
Jean’s survivors include her loving son, Thomas W. Beil and his wife Sharen of Middletown; her brother, Donald E. Basehore and his wife Audrey of Camp Hill; her three sisters, Carolyn Starry and her late husband Roy of Mechanicsburg, Betty Kissinger and her husband Clair of Mechanicsburg, Eleanor Weber and her husband Lester of Mechanicsburg; her friends and care takers, James “Jim” M. Kost and his wife Kathleen “Kate” of Mechanicsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Among those preceding Jean in death are her three brothers, George Basehore, Robert Basehore, Marlin Basehore; and her sister, Verna Shuff.
Jean loved to ride on the back of her son’s motorcycle. Shooting guns, especially big guns, with her son was a favorite past-time of hers. Jean deeply loved her son, Tom, and she greatly enjoyed spending time with him. She loved working at Beil’s Tack Shop in Dillsburg where she spent every Friday night for years. Jean enjoyed her family as they played cards or went camping, it was always time well spent. She will be remembered and missed by those who knew and loved her.
All are welcome to join Jean’s family at her viewing on Thursday, March 21, 2013, from 6:00 until time of service at 7:00 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with James “Jim” M. Kost officiating. Burial will be private and in Rolling Green Memorial Park in Camp Hill.
