Gladys Mae Gleim (Fulton) Masonheimer, 91, of Mechanicsburg , and formerly of Lemoyne , died peacefully at home and surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, October 24, 2013.  She was born in Carlisle, on Saturday, October 29, 1921, daughter of the late William Albert Fulton and Minnie Katherine (Gleim) Fulton.  Gladys was the widow of John Lewis Masonheimer, Sr. whom she married on May 14, 1940 and who died on November 4, 1992.  They were married for 52 years and on every wedding anniversary Gladys received roses totaling the number of years of marriage.

Gladys’ survivors include her loving daughters, Donna L. McCloskey and her husband Don of California, and Karan Mae Masonheimer and her husband Michael W. Praskievicz of New York; her seven grandchildren; her nine great-grandchildren; her two sisters, Sara Albright of Lemoyne, and Betty Whitmyer of Marysville; her brother, William Fulton and his wife Elsie of Enola; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Among those preceding Gladys in death are her son, John Lewis Masonheimer, Jr., her brother, George Fulton, and her sister, Ethel Hafley.

Gladys graduated from Lemoyne High School as part of the class of 1939.  She retired from Riverton Consolidated Water in Wormleysburg, after more than 27 years of service working as a clerk.  Gladys was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Lemoyne since 1941, where she was active in the Sunday School program.  She enjoyed being active with the Lemoyne Fire Company Auxiliary where she served as a past Treasurer. Order of the Eastern Star was especially important to Gladys and she served in all the Chairs, as Worthy Matron, and as State Chaplain.  She was active at the Bethany Village Gift Shop and loved spending time with her neighbors at Bethany Village.  Gladys’ absence will be felt by many.

All are welcome to join Gladys’ family at her Celebration of Life Reception and Gathering of Family & Friends on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 (her 92 nd birthday), from 1:30 p.m. until time of Memorial Service at 3:00 p.m. at Bethany Village East, Community Room , 325 Wesley Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with Reverend Dr. Brand W. Eaton officiating.  A private interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Churchtown. Cremation was private.
