Gladys Mae (Hoy) Peck
Family was Always Important -
Gladys Mae (Hoy) Peck, age 90, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2019. Gladys was born on Thursday, July 4, 1929 in Mechanicsburg to the late Nevin Bruce Hoy and Florence Ivy (Wagner) Hoy. Gladys was the widow of Dean “Dino” Benjamin Peck, whom she married on August 2, 1952, and who died on October 28, 2016. In addition to her parents and husband, Gladys is preceded in death by her four brothers: Paul Hoy, Norman Hoy, Jay Hoy, Glenn Hoy; and her sister, Ivy Moyer.
Gladys’s survivors include her three sons: Dennis Peck and his wife, Margaret, of Fenton, MO, William “Bill” Peck and his wife, Susan, of West Chester, OH, Donald “Don” Peck and his wife, Gail, of Dover, PA; her three grandchildren: Brian Peck, Benjamin Peck and his spouse, Christian Gineste, and Amanda Peck; her three siblings: Emma Whitcomb, George Hoy, Arlene Hoy, all of Mechanicsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Gladys graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1947. She retired from Berg Electronics in Lewisberry, after 20 years of service working as a QC inspector. Gladys had a strong sense of faith and was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg. She was a member of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE). She liked to bake, decorate cakes, and make her great homemade bread. Gladys also liked to crochet and knit. She made suits for her boys so they could always be dressed in their Sunday best. Gladys enjoyed playing games, especially her favorite game of bingo. She had a love of traveling with her husband, but Gladys always looked forward to returning home. Family was forever the most important part of her life; Gladys loved being a mom. She ensured her boys were on the right track and constantly knew what was going on in each of their lives. Gladys’s extended family were her best friends. They would get together every Sunday to play card games, dominos, board games, and to bake; but mostly to enjoy each other’s company, even in her later years. She loved cardinals and collected trinkets to decorate all over her home.
