Gladys Virginia (Young) Thomas

Gladys Virginia (Young) Thomas, 86, of Lemoyne , and formerly of Allen Park, MI , died at Holy Spirit Hospital on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013.  A native of Waynesburg, KY, she was born on Monday, October 18, 1926, daughter of the late Granville Henry Young and Flossie Mae (Hayes) Young.  Gladys was the widow of Henry “Tommy” Douglas Thomas whom she married on May 29, 1947, and who died on September 25, 2005.  Together, they resided in Allen Park, MI, until their retirement to Spring Hill, FL in 1988.

Gladys’ survivors include her three daughters, Gloria J. Payton of Hamilton, Ontario Canada, Deborah A. Harbison of Loveland, Ohio, and Karen S. Williams of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.  Among those preceding Gladys in death are her brother, Sterling Victor Young; and four sisters, Bonnie Louvern Puskar, Jewel Mitchell, Judy Miller and Verdena Faye Mercer.

All are welcome to join Gladys’ family at her Graveside Service on Sunday, April 14, 2013, at 12:00 at Bethabara Baptist Church Cemetery , 4651 Monroe Highway, Statham, GA 30666, with Reverend Dr. Rob Bray officiating.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Emmanuel Baptist Church – Building Fund , 4681 East Trindle Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.
