Gladys “Mamá” Quiñones

Everyone’s Grandma -

Gladys “Mamá” Quiñones, age 76, of Harrisburg, and formerly of Puerto Rico, went home while surround by her loving family on Wednesday, September 26, 2018.  Mamá was born on Saturday, April 11, 1942 in Yauco, Puerto Rico to the late Adolfino Quiñones and Elena Gonzalez.  In addition to her parents, Mamá is preceded in death by her son, Lizardo “Gigi” Ramos; and her three siblings.

Mamá’s survivors include her husband of 57 years, Jose Ramos; her nine children: Maribel “Mary” Ramos, Jose “Tito” Ramos, Jr., Luz Delia Ramos, Javier Ramos, Janet Ramos, Noel Ramos, Saul “Chalo” Ramos, Sr., Edison “Edi” Ramos, Olga Ramos; her 32 grandchildren; her 41 great-grandchildren; her four siblings: Hilda Quiñones, Adolfo Quiñones, Moises Quiñones, Myriam Quiñones; and many nieces and nephews.

Mamá was a member of Luz Y Esperanza Church in Harrisburg for 22 years.  She was loveable and everyone’s grandma.  Mamá was caring, humble, and always happy.  Her favorite thing to do was cook while talking on the phone.  She had an incredible memory and could often remember everyone’s birthdays.  Mamá also had a good sense of humor and was quite the jokester at times.  She most enjoyed having her family around, especially her grandchildren.

All are welcome to join Mamá’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Thursday, October 4, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 10:30 a.m. at Luz Y Esperanza Church, 1418 Derry Street, Harrisburg, PA 17104; with Reverend Luz De Ada Rodriguez officiating.  Burial will follow in Paxtang Cemetery in Harrisburg.  Honored to be pallbearers are: Janer Escobales, Javier Ramos, Jose Ramos, Jr., Noel Ramos, Norberto Ramos, Saul Ramos, Saul Ramos, Jr., and Nelson Soto.
