Glen M. Pensinger

A True Family Man -

Glen M. Pensinger, age 90, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 5, 2017.  Glen was born on Tuesday, January 11, 1927 in St. Thomas to the late George W. Pensinger, Sr. and Edna M. (Spidel) Bennett.  In addition to his parents, Glen is preceded in death by his step-son, Steven McDannell; his sister, Betty J. Frank; and his brother, George Pensinger, Jr.

Glen’s survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Betty Arlene (Moritz) Pensinger; his three sons: Robert “Bob” Pensinger and his wife, Vickie, of Chambersburg, Russell “Russ” Pensinger and his wife, Barbara, of Gettysburg, Richard “Rick” Pensinger and his wife, Yolanda, of Falling Water, WV; his daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Pensinger of Carlisle; his six grandchildren; his ten great-grandchildren; his faithful canine companion, Ellie Mae; and countless other family members.

Glen graduated from St. Thomas High School and from Chambersburg Business College as a Junior Accountant.  He retired from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) after many years of service working as a clerk at Mechanicsburg area stores.  Glen was a long-time member of Shiremanstown First Church of God.  He was a member of the American Legion Post # 109 in Mechanicsburg and the Detrich-Brechbill American Legion Post #612 in St. Thomas where he served as an adjutant and past commander.  He was also a past member of the Mechanicsburg Club.  Glen enjoyed watching golf as well as his favorite baseball team, Philadelphia Phillies, and football team, Philadelphia Eagles, on television as they played every season.  Every day, he would read the newspaper, do some crossword puzzles, and watch television; that was a perfectly relaxing day to Glen.  He held a special place in his heart, and on his lap, for his Beagle, Ellie Mae, who he loved dearly.  The most important part of his life was his family because Glen cherished spending time with all of them; they will miss him dearly.

All are welcome to join Glen’s family at his viewing on Thursday, August 10, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, August 11, 2017, for time of service at 10:00 a.m. at Shiremanstown First Church of God, 35 South Locust Street, Shiremanstown, PA 17011; with Pastor Floyd R. Carlen officiating.  Burial will follow in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill, where military honors will be presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard.  Honored to be pallbearers are Jim Dorn, Michael Pensinger, Randy Pensinger, Richard Pensinger, Robert Pensinger, and Russell Pensinger.  Glen’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at his church following the burial.
