Glenda Dawn (O’Donel) Murray, age 58, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Shippensburg, PA, died at home with her loving mother and husband at her side on Wednesday, November 18, 2015. Glenda was born on Tuesday, April 2, 1957, in Chambersburg, PA to Mary Ferne (Morton) O’Donel and the late Jay Edward O’Donel.
Glenda’s survivors include her devoted husband of eight years, Thomas “Tom” Murray; her loving mother, Mary, of Orrstown, PA; her uncles and aunts: Paul Morton and his wife Shirley, of Spring Run, PA, Beverly Scott and her husband, Donald, of Chambersburg, Saundra Love and her husband, Robert, of Shippensburg, Dianne Umbrell and her husband, Robert, of Chambersburg, Deborah Hammond, and her husband, James, of Chambersburg.
Glenda graduated from Shippensburg High School as part of the class of 1975. She was employed at Scholastic Books for 15 years, working in inventory control. Glenda loved animals, especially dogs and horses. She was a car enthusiast, and had a special fondness for Corvettes and hot rods. Glenda loved to shop and spent so many hours shopping for jewelry, clothes, shoes, and pocketbooks that family and friends considered her a “professional” shopper. One of Glenda’s most noted shopping adventures occurred on her 1999 Ireland excursion that cost less than the jewelry she bought on the trip. She enjoyed weekend getaways with her husband, mostly to Annapolis and Ocean City, MD. Glenda treasured her friends, and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
All are welcome to join Glenda’s family at her graveside service and burial on Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens in Carlisle; with Celebrant George Spangler officiating. C remation was private.
