Gloria Elva (Miller) Dunlevy, age 73, of Camp Hill, passed away peacefully with all of her loving children and grandchildren by her side on Friday, August 25, 2017.  Gloria was born on Sunday, June 4, 1944 in Hershey to the late George Edgar Miller and Ella Mae (Kline) Miller.  In addition to her parents, Gloria is preceded in death by her brother, Eugene Miller.

Gloria’s survivors include her three children: Daniel “Dan” G. Dunlevy and his wife, Judy B., of Mount Holly Springs and their two daughters: Katelin E. Bittinger and her husband, Chris, and their daughter, Audrey, of Gardners, Megan A. Grosso and her husband, Michael, of Philadelphia, Douglas “Doug” B. Dunlevy of Camp Hill, Lisa J. Buechel and her husband, Robert A., and their two children: Jaime E. Buechel, Jared S. Buechel of Shermans Dale; her brother, Donald Miller and his wife, Joyce “Patty”, of Palmyra; her former spouse, Lawrence J. Dunlevy of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Gloria grew up in a small town and was an honor student and was member of the 4H club. Gloria was a wife and mother at a very young age which required her to leave school prematurely, but she made a point to get her General Education Diploma at a later time.

Throughout the years she worked numerous jobs including in a warehouse, as a waitress and at one point worked her second job at a movie theater along with her son and daughter.

While raising her children she had a regular routine of rising early, going to work by 6:30 and coming home by 3:00. Each and every day she did a load of laundry, made dinner, cleaned up and read her newspaper. We would find her asleep in her chair "resting her eyes" by 7:30 each evening with the newspaper in her lap and the dog lying beside her. Gloria had many special friendships in her life time. She was also loved by many of her children's friends and was loving called "Big G".

In recent years when her health became a bigger concern, she still attended graduations, weddings and birthday parties for her grandchildren and great grand-daughter. She also loved watching her only grandson grow and grow. She loved it when all of her grandchildren were together at family gatherings.

In 2006, Gloria was diagnosed with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension. At that time only a handful of people in Central PA had her condition. She was placed on oxygen and was given a grim prognosis. Gloria opted to try experimental drugs for her condition. These drugs have now been approved and helped her live way beyond what doctors had anticipated. A special note her primary care doctor, Dr. Ghosh at Camp Hill took extra special care of Gloria. She respected him and thought so highly of him. When she was first sent to Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, she placed a call to Dr. Ghosh on her cell phone at 2:30 AM. His service took her message and the doctor immediately called her back. He spoke to her and eased her mind in regards to her care at Temple. That spoke volumes in regards to his concern and care of his patients.

Gloria was also accepted as a patient by Dr. Paul Forfia, who is a world-renowned doctor for his treatment of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension. His team has much success in regard to the treatment of patients with this condition. Dr. Forfia himself was very kind and treated Gloria with respect. He even spoon fed her apple sauce to try to get her to take her medications after her P.T.E. Surgery. Such a highly educated doctor, yet compassionate enough to make sure his patient took her medicine. Our mother was blessed to have such excellent health care providers.

Her family loved her dearly, but no one more than her loving son Doug. He graciously cared for his ailing mother for the last eleven years. He shared his home and life with her. Gloria as well as Dan and Lisa her other children were blessed to have Doug open his heart and home and care for their mother.

In closing, Gloria achieved so much with the little she had in her life. Her greatest blessings were her family and friends. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

All are welcome to join Gloria’s family at her service on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with a viewing to follow from 10:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with The Reverend Canon Calvin Van Kirk Hoyt officiating.   Gloria’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at the home of a family friend following the viewing.

Burial in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Harrisburg will be private and at the family’s convenience.  Honored to be pallbearers are Chris Bittinger, Bob Buechel, Daniel Dunlevy, Michael Grosso, and David Hoyt.
