Loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother -
Gloria Ann (Hoffman) Ruppert, age 78, of Harrisburg , and formerly of Palmyra and Mechanicsburg , died at Homeland Center on Saturday, August 22, 2015. Gloria was born on Tuesday, January 12, 1937 in Mechanicsburg to the late J. Elwood Hoffman and Ruth Ann (Bentzel) Hoffman. Gloria was the widow of Donald “Don" Edgar Ruppert, whom she married on June 20, 1954, and who died on March 28, 2015.
Gloria’s survivors include her two children: MaryJo Chamberlin and her husband, Eddie, of Mechanicsburg, Robert Ruppert and his wife, Theresa, of Dauphin, PA; her three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren: Denelle Chamberlin-Smith and her husband Doug, and her son, Destin, all of Mechanicsburg, Kelli Bender and her husband, Brandon, and their girls, Adriana and Jillian, all of Dillsburg, Eric Ruppert of Dauphin; her one sister, Carolyn Hale, of Dillsburg; her one niece and three nephews.
Gloria was a very Christian lady who belonged to Wesley United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg for many years. She was a simple person who enjoyed simple living; and she was particularly fond of reading and puzzle books. Gloria loved all her pets she had throughout her lifetime. Her family was the most important thing to Gloria, and she is remembered warmly as a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
All are welcome to join Gloria’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Thursday, August 27, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 1:45 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Kevin E. Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill. Gloria’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Theo’s Bar & Grille , 3315 Hartzdale Drive, Camp Hill, PA 17011, following the burial. Honored to be pallbearers are: Brandon Bender, Doug Smith, Eric Ruppert, Gary Hale, Destin Chamberlin, and Brian Hale.
