Gloria Ann (Petliski) Siemon, age 70, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Middletown, NY and Bridgewater, NJ, passed away peacefully in the loving care of her husband on Saturday, December 24, 2016. Gloria was born on Saturday, April 20, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Peter Petliski and Sonia (Krauchick) Petliski. In addition to her parents, Gloria is preceded in death by her two siblings: Peter Petliski and Patricia Slinkowski.
Gloria’s survivors include her loving husband of 48 years, Frank Edward Siemon, Sr.; her two sons: Frank E. Siemon, Jr. and his wife, Laurel, of Mechanicsburg, John J. Siemon and his wife, Stacey, of Spicewood, TX; her five grandchildren: Andrew, Rebecca, Jon, Samantha, William; her brother: Frank Petliski of Middletown, NY; and her faithful canine companion, Buddy.
Gloria proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1963-1964 in Texas. She graduated from Orange County Community College in 1986 where she studied to become a registered nurse. Gloria worked very hard to achieve her degree while going to school at night and taking care of her family during the day. She was a nurse who gave her utmost and cared deeply for her patients. Gloria’s spirit of comfort, care, and concern was immeasurable; she loved being a nurse because she felt a deep satisfaction for what she did. Gloria worked at Horton Hospital in Middletown, NY for five years as a medical-surgical nurse and for 15 years at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville, NJ in oncology.
Gloria was a good cook who relished in sharing her talents with friends and family. She loved her family deeply and enjoyed caring for them. Gloria was a selfless and giving person who always put her family first. She enjoyed taking trips with them and going to her favorite place, the beach. Gloria’s family holds memories of going to Long Beach Island, NJ with her and spending time on the sand together. She will be missed dearly by many.
All are welcome to join Gloria’s family at her Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Church of the Good Shepherd, 3435 East Trindle Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011; with Father Benedict Faneye celebrating. Military honors will be presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard immediately following the service. Gloria’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship following military honors.
