Gwyn Marie (Forry) Wertz, 59, of Camp Hill, and formerly of Shiremanstown , died at Holy Spirit Hospital on Tuesday, September 18, 2012. She was born in Mechanicsburg, on November 7, 1952, daughter of Janet Loraine (McCaleb) Forry and the late Marlin Hertzler Forry. Gwyn was the wife of David William Potts whom she married on May 19, 1985.
Gwyn graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1970. She was the former Owner and Head Chef of The Lunch Box on Trindle Road in Mechanicsburg, for over 12 years. She retired from Merrill Lynch with 12 years of service as a Client Associate . Gwyn was a fierce crossword puzzle enthusiast and an epic gardener. She found great joy growing and arranging flowers and sharing the fruits of her harvest. She enjoyed travel, camping and above all, spending time in the sun, sand and suds with her “Beach Gang.” Gwyn’s devotion to her family and friends was boundless and eternal. She possessed a sincerely hopeful, positive and compassionate spirit. Gwyn was wholeheartedly altruistic and took sincere pleasure in the happiness and wellbeing of others.
Gwyn’s survivors include her loving husband, David, of 27 years; her mother, Janet Forry of Mechanicsburg; a daughter, Jamee Wertz of Lemoyne; a son, Jesse Potts and his wife Ann Bartges of Ann Arbor, MI; a brother, Gregg Forry of Greenlane, PA; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and an innumerable troupe of friends she regarded as family. Gwyn is proceeded in death by her son, Shane Wertz.
All are welcome to gather and join Gwyn’s family for reflection and refreshments at her Celebration of Life to be held from 2:00 to 5:00 on Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Visaggio's Restaurante’s Castel Castagne Ballroom, 6990 Wertzville Road, Enola, PA 17025. Cremation was private.
