Hannah Elizabeth (Jean) Eaton, 83, of Mechanicsburg , and formerly of Mendham, NJ , died at home and surrounded by her loving family on Monday, October 28, 2013. She was born in Perth Amboy, NJ, on Monday, September 15, 1930, daughter of the late Joseph Napoleon Jean and Hannah (Burns) Jean. Hannah was the widow of Harold Eaton whom she married on December 15, 1951 and who died on November 24, 2012.
Hannah’s survivors include her loving daughters, Dianne Newport of Mechanicsburg, Lianne Cook and her husband William of Shippensburg; a granddaughter, Samantha Newport of Mechanicsburg, grandson, Maxwell Newport of Mechanicsburg; a great-granddaughter, Aubree Frock; and several nieces and nephews. Among those preceding Hannah in death are her children, Mark Eaton and Joanne Porter; and a brother, Chet Jean.
Hannah retired from the Borough of Mendham in NJ, after 17 years of service working as the town clerk. She and her husband lived in the house he built in Mendham for over 48 years before moving to Pennsylvania. Hannah was an avid reader and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles. Taking care of her family was the most important part of Hannah’s life.
Cremation and services will be private and at the family’s convenience.
