Harold “Bill” Junior Swope
Harold “Bill” Junior Swope, age 84, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. Bill was born on Wednesday, April 14, 1934 in Aspers to the late Ivan Swope and Iva (Melhorn) Swope. In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by several of his brothers and sisters.
Bill’s survivors include his wife of 63 years, Susanne Kay (Morret) Swope; his two children: Donna Sue Brunner and her husband, Doug, of Dillsburg, Harold “Bill” William Swope and his wife, Tammy, of Dillsburg; his five grandchildren: April Whitcomb of Lemoyne, Ashley Whitcomb and her husband, Corey, of Dillsburg, Andrea Gassner and her husband, Adam, of Camp Hill, Anthony “Tony” Swope of Dillsburg, Timothy Swope of Dillsburg; his six great-grandchildren; his three siblings: Charlie Swope of Biglerville, Anna Mae Wagner of Biglerville, Lillian McKenrick of Gettysburg; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved canine companion, Sparky.
Bill retired from Susquehanna View in Camp Hill, after five years of service working as a custodian. He enjoyed watching football, especially if his favorite team, the Green Bay Packers, were playing. Bill also looked forward to going to the local races each week. He had a knack for making birdhouses and could often be found in the garage working on them.
Bill’s family will be remembering his life privately. Burial in Mechanicsburg Cemetery will be private and at the family’s convenience.
