Harold "Jeff" Jeffrey Dibert

September 25, 1947 — November 26, 2016

Harold Jeffrey Dibert

Harold Jeffrey “Jeff” Dibert, age 69, of Dillsburg, and formerly of Johnstown, PA, passed away peacefully at home with his family drawn near on November 26, 2016 due to declining health and complications from a brain injury he sustained in February 2006.  He was the son of the late Harold T. Dibert and Sarah Imogene (Klotz) Shaffer.  In addition to his parents, Jeff was predeceased by his brother, Wayne E. Dibert; and his stepmother, Mary Dibert.

Jeff is survived by his devoted wife of forty-four years, Judy A. (Bheam) Dibert; his daughter, Jaclyn, and grandsons, Gregory and Zachary Wilt, whom he adored.  Jeff is also survived by stepsisters Brenda Dodson of Osterburg, PA;  Diane Smith (Merle) of Greencastle, PA;  stepbrother Sheldon Price (Sharon) of Bedford, PA.;  and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Jeff was born in Windber, PA, and grew up in the Bedford and Johnstown areas.  He graduated from Cambria Rowe Business College and later moved to Camp Hill where he worked for twenty-eight years at the Shiremanstown location of Venator, a division of the Woolworth Company.

Before his injury in 2006, Jeff lived and breathed constant activity in life and had an ever-growing list of hobbies and interests.  He loved going to Raystown to go boating, to water ski, to plant his flower gardens, and to host hunting camp for friends during deer and turkey seasons.  He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed countless memorable hunting and fishing trips both in and outside the United States.  In the mid 1990’s he decided to train and compete his hunting dogs, Max, Reina, and Ruby in field trial and show competitions, and in 1998 he led Max to show championship at the Diamond State German Shorthaired Pointer Association competition in Carlisle, PA.  Later he learned to scuba dive and did a shark dive in Bermuda on his first dive after certification.  For Jeff life was an ongoing, fun filled, “what’s next” adventure, and knowing him was never, ever boring.  Along life’s way he became a friend to many.

Despite the severe limitations from his brain injury, Jeff never lost his mischievous sense of humor, his natural gift of likeability, or his great smile.  His disability slowed him down for sure but allowed a lot of time for reflection, and he realized how fortunate he was to have lived a life so filled with fun, friends, and family who loved him.  In his last years he was content with many fine memories and was looking toward heaven.

Jeff was so grateful for friends who stayed in touch through the years after his injury, who remembered him with cards and visits, or who helped his family during his long journey home.  His church family at Mount Pleasant Church of God, who loved and kept him and Judy in uplifting prayer, also meant a lot to him.

Jeff’s care has been entrusted to Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg. PA (717-766-34210).  A memorial service in his memory is planned for Saturday, December 3, 2016, with gathering at 11:00 a.m. and time of remembrance at 11:30 a.m. followed by a light luncheon.
