Harold “Les” Leslie Manning

Harold “Les” Leslie Manning, 86, of Mechanicsburg , died at home on Saturday, September 7, 2013. He was born in Newport, on Monday, June 27, 1927, son of the late Frank Earl Manning and Anna (Newlin) Manning. Les was the husband of Julia (Kline) Corpman Manning whom he married on August 14, 1964.
Les’s survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Julia; his children, Douglas Corpman of Escondido, CA, Bradley Corpman and his wife Patti of Harrisburg, Tammy Manning Smith and her husband Michael of Mechanicsburg; his grandchildren, David Gebhart and his wife Karen of Ohio, Karen Cassel of Mechanicsburg, Amanda Boggs and her husband Anthony of Pittsburgh, Joshua Manning and his fiancé Krista of Mechanicsburg, Meagan Smith of Mechanicsburg; his great grandchildren, Michael Gebhart of Carlisle, Alyssa and Matthew Gebhart of Ohio, Sara Manning of Mechanicsburg, Lucas Boggs of Pittsburgh; and several nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. Among those preceding Les in death are his daughter, Patricia Corpman Gebhart; his siblings, Helen Shutt, Dorothy Young, and William Manning.
Les retired from the Naval Supply Depot in Mechanicsburg, after 40 years of service working as a printing press operator. He was also employed with Weis Markets in Lemoyne for over 17 years. Les was a member of Hope United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg and the United Methodist Men . He built his own air boat which he converted into a sled in the wintertime, a trailer to haul the boat, and a wood splitter. Les was also a member of the Newport Rod & Gun Club.
All are welcome to join Les’s family at his visitation on Friday, September 13, 2013, from 10:00 until time of service at 11:00 at Hope United Methodist Church , 6260 Carlisle Pike, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050, with Pastor Samuel Velez-Irizarry officiating. Les’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at his church following the service with burial following the reception at Newport Cemetery in Newport. The family suggests memorial contributions to Hope United Methodist Church.
