Harry Jasper Beshgetoorian, Jr.

Harry Jasper Beshgetoorian, Jr., 91, of Carlisle , and formerly of Philadelphia , died at Carlisle Regional Medical Center on Monday, June 3, 2013.  He was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on Tuesday, December 20, 1921, son of the late Harry Jasper Beshgetoorian and Lillian (Buchakian) Beshgetoorian.  Harry was the husband of Barbara Joan (Catterall) Beshgetoorian whom he married on April 15, 1967.

Harry’s survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Barbara; his children, Harry Jasper Beshgetoorian III and his wife Amy of Clayton, NC, Ellen Joan Skill and her husband Kenneth Robert of Mechanicsburg; his grandchildren, Jared Owen Beshgetoorian of NC, Timothy Andrew Skill of Mechanicsburg, Laina Marie Beshgetoorian of NC; his brother, Paul Beshgetoorian of CA; and several nieces and nephews.

Harry graduated from Kingston High School, Kingston, NY and attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute , Troy, NY.  He retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania , after many years of service working as an Employee Relations Representative.  Harry worked at Hechinger’s after his retirement. He had been the president of the PESEA Union .  Harry was a US Army - Air Corps WW II Veteran and a recipient of the Purple Heart . He was a member of Macalester-Torresdale Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, where he was a deacon and an elder. Harry was a blacksmith and a “jack of all trades” who could fix anything.  Harry was a unique man with a great sense of humor who loved to tell stories and who considered his family the most important part of his life.

All are welcome to join Harry’s family at his Graveside Service with military honors on Friday, June 7, 2013, at 3:00 pm at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery , Annville, PA.  Cremation will be private and at the family’s convenience.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cinncinnati, OH 45250-0301.
