Harry “Peanut” Jacob Donnelly
A Kind and Caring Person –
Harry “Peanut” Jacob Donnelly, age 82, of Carlisle, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 26, 2019. Harry was born on Sunday, August 16, 1936 in North Middleton Township to the late Harry Elmer Donnelly and Esther Viola (McCalister) Donnelly. Harry was the widower of Faye Janet (Heberling) Donnelly, whom he married on March 10, 1956, and who died on June 12, 1976. In addition to his parents and wife, Harry is preceded in death by his son Brian Donnelly on August 20, 1991.
Harry’s survivors include his four sons: Kevin, Gregory, Brett and Dwayne all living in the Carlisle area, four grandchildren Mike, Kyle, Kraig and Shannon; his great-granddaughter Emily; and his brother Floyd Donnelly.
Harry graduated from Carlisle High School in 1954. After high school, he worked as an airplane mechanic at New Kingstown Airport in Silver Springs Township. He drove truck as an Independent Driver and later drove for Rite Aid Corporation. After retirement, he continued to work part-time positions driving school and tour buses and working various security positions for U.S. Securities Associates.
Harry is most remembered for his story telling, never ending jokes and love for family, friends and pet animals. Harry had a private pilot’s license and loving flying his single engine airplanes. He also raced stock cars during the late 1960’s at Silver Springs Speedway. He was a big fan of Sprint Car Racing, NASCAR, Professional and College Football. Harry loved listening to Country music, especially Elvis Presley. His family and friends will miss him greatly and will always remember him as a kind caring person who could always bring a smile and a laugh to a crowd.
Cremation and a time remembering Harry’s life will be private and at the convenience of the family.
