Strong, Independent, and a Heart of Gold -

Hazel A. (Stouffer) Lambert, age 91, of Camp Hill , died peacefully at home in Country Meadows of the West Shore with her loving husband by her side on Wednesday, June 25, 2014.  Hazel was born on Tuesday, May 22, 1923 in Mechanicsburg to the late George Stouffer and Ruth (Cameron) Stouffer.  In addition to her parents, Hazel is preceded in death by her brother, George Richard Stouffer.

Hazel’s survivors include her loving husband of almost 69 years, Robert “Bob” Byerly Lambert, Jr.; her sons: Jack Lambert and his wife, Ann, of Texas, Rick Lambert and his wife, Kathy, of Mechanicsburg; her five grandchildren; her six great-grandchildren; her siblings: Donald Stouffer of Mechanicsburg, Robert Stouffer of Maryland, Helen Stouffer Nace of Carlisle; and several nieces and nephews.

Hazel was a long-time member of First Christian Church in Lemoyne.  She was the oldest of seven children in a farm family which was a great sense of pride for Hazel.  Her farming roots and contributions to the family farm remained fond memories throughout her life.  In the early years of her marriage, Hazel continued her devotion to her family by picking up hammer and saw and helping to build their new home in Camp Hill.  Hazel took her role of mother and homemaker seriously.  She taught her children to value and to respect everyone, and she carried those values into her volunteerism as a Cub Scout Den Mother.  Hazel is fondly remembered as a strong, independent woman with a heart of gold.

All are welcome to join Hazel’s family at her Gathering of Family and Friends on Monday, June 30, 2014, from 2:00 p.m. until time of Funeral Service at 3:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor Dennis Fulk officiating.  Burial will immediately follow in Longsdorf Cemetery in New Kingstown.  Hazel’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship following the burial.  Honored to be pallbearers are Hazel’s sons, Jack and Rick.

The family suggests memorial contributions to First Christian Church , 442 Hummel Avenue, Lemoyne, PA 17043 .
