Helen Lucille (Foltz) Fegan

Helen Lucille (Foltz) Fegan, age 90, of New Cumberland , died peacefully at Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Carlisle on Monday, December 29, 2014.  Helen was born on Thursday, May 8, 1924 in Harrisburg to the late Edward M. Foltz and Hattie (Miller) Foltz.  Helen was the widow of Frederick “Bill” William Fegan, whom she married on May 31, 1945, and who died on December 3, 2003.  In addition to her parents and husband, Helen is preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Bowen; her three sisters:  Fay Milliken, Charlotte Foltz, Betty Sills; and her stepmother, Alda Barrick Foltz.

Helen’s survivors include her two sons: Frederick W. Fegan and his wife, Kate, of Mechanicsburg and his former wife, Dorothy (Ernst) Skiba, of York Haven, Paul Edward Fegan and his wife, Tanya, of Lewisberry; her son-in-law, Terry Bowen, of Dillsburg; her three nieces: Nancy Milliken Cassel of Harrisburg, Janet Milliken Bratina of Hershey, Jeanette Sills Cline of Winston-Salem, NC; her eight grandchildren; her sixteen great-grandchildren; and her great-great-granddaughter.  Helen’s greatest joys were her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Helen graduated from William Penn High School and then proudly served in the U.S. Navy Waves during World War II.  She was co-owner of Fegan’s Cleaners in Palmyra and later retired from Sears Roebuck & Company .  She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in New Cumberland and a former member of the Harrisburg Sweet Adelines .

All are welcome to join Helen’s family at her viewing on Saturday, January 3, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor Mark Allio officiating.  Helen’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Warm Hearts Café , 25 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, immediately following the service.  Cremation will be private and followed by interment at the family’s convenience in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, where military honors will be presented.

The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to the third floor staff at Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and the staff of Homeland Hospice who so lovingly cared for Helen.  The family suggests memorial contributions to Trinity United Methodist Church , 415 Bridge Street, New Cumberland, PA 17070, or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society - Central PA Chapter, 2405 Park Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA  17110, or Homeland Hospice , 2300 Vartan Way, Suite 115, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
