With heavy hearts, we said goodbye to our mother, Helen (Huron) Sarraf, age 94, of Elizabethtown (formerly of Camp Hill) on October 12, 2024. Helen was born on November 24, 1929, in Pittsburgh to the late George Huron and Mary (Kishaw) Huron. Helen was the widow of Hugh Charles Sarraf. In addition to her parents and husband, Helen is preceded in death by her son, Mark Wade Sarraf, and four siblings: Michael, John (Jack), Anne, and Veronica.
Helen’s survivors include her two sons, David Bruce Sarraf and wife Nancy of Elizabethtown, Steven Scott Sarraf and wife Delaine of Fair Haven, NJ, two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Joseph Huron of Las Vegas, NV, and many nieces and nephews.
After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh, Helen enjoyed a full career of teaching in Pittsburgh and in the East Pennsboro school district. Following retirement, she traveled the world with several groups including Elderhostel, now Road Scholar. She was passionate about gardening and participated in the Penn-Cumberland Garden Club for many years. Additionally, Helen volunteered with many civic and community organizations. She was a longtime, active member of Camp Hill Presbyterian Church.
Helen’s family will be remembering her life privately, and a Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 16, at 1pm at Camp Hill Presbyterian Church - 101 N. 23rd Street, Camp Hill, PA.
We are thankful to her family members, many friends, and the wonderful staff and volunteers at Masonic Village for their love and care.
