Helen Catherine Mayberry
Blessed with a Long & Happy Life
-
Helen Catherine Mayberry, 93, of Mechanicsburg went home to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday.
She was born in Mechanicsburg the daughter of the late Asa M. Zook Sr. and Mabel Harlan Zook and she was the widow of Lloyd W. Mayberry.
Helen loved to crochet and knit, making quilts, scarves, afghans and shawls. Food was Helen’s life and she was a first class baker. She waitressed and cooked at Hilltop Inn in Shepherdstown which is a building the Zook family constructed. She retired from Mechanicsburg School District as the Head Cafeteria Cook at Shepherdstown Elementary School. Her family proudly states that Helen’s wet bottom shoo-fly pie was hands down the world’s best! Her grandchildren and great grandchildren will always remember her goodie bags and sandwich cookies. She always had a stash of candy and cookies which she freely and gladly shared with all who visited.
Helen is survived by one son: Lester E. Mayberry; two granddaughters: Wendy S. Fisher of Mechanicsburg,
