Helen E. (Crabtree) Trout

Helen E. (Crabtree) Trout, 92, of Lansdale , and formerly of Harrisburg , died at Willowbrooke Court at Brittany Pointe Estates in Lansdale on Saturday, November 23, 2013. She was the ninth child of eleven born to Walker Crabtree and Emma (Murphree) Crabtree. Helen was the widow of Neall “Tony” H. Trout Jr. whom she married in 1951.
Helen’s survivors include her children, Neall H. Trout III and his wife Kathleen of Pottstown, Thomas C. Trout and his wife Barbara of Blue Bell, Stephen W. Trout and his wife Janna of High Pointe, NC; ten grandchildren, Lauren Trout, Sean Trout, Susan Boccella, Jordan Trout, Jillian Trout, Anna Trout, Kathryn Trout, Toni Trout, Emily Denisar, Elyse Trout; four great-grandchildren, Tyler Trout, Rya Trout, Michael Boccella, Roman Boccella; two sisters, Margaret Painter, Martha White and her husband Ray; and several nieces and nephews.
Helen graduated from Nashville General Hospital as a registered nurse in 1944 and served in the US Navy from 1945 to 1951 achieving the rank of Lieutenant. She deployed on the USS Consolation during the Korean War and participated in the evacuation of war casualties from Pusan, Korea. During her tenure in the Navy she was the private duty nurse for Cordell Hull, the longest serving Secretary of State under Franklin Roosevelt.
All are welcome to join Helen’s family at her visitation on Monday, December 2, 2013, from 10:00 until time of service at 10:30 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with Celebrant Mary Medkeff-Rose officiating. Burial will follow in Duncannon Cemetery , where military honors will be presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard .
Helen’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Leeds Restaurant , 750 Eisenhower Boulevard, Harrisburg. The family suggests memorial contributions to Wounded Warrior Project, 301 Grant Street, Suite 900, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
