Helen Lillian (Yentzer) Wert
Loving Mother and Aunt -
Helen Lillian (Yentzer) Wert, age 97, of Millsboro, DE, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2019. Helen was born on Sunday, December 4, 1921 in Harrisburg to the late John Earl Yentzer, Sr. and Florence Ellen (Bowers) Yentzer. Helen was the widow of Weir Raymond Wert, whom she married in 1960, and who died in 2006. In addition to her parents and husband, Helen is preceded in death by her six siblings: John Yentzer, Jr., David Yentzer, Ruth Downs, Ellis “Skip” Yentzer, George Yentzer, and Marian “Katie” Conbeer.
Helen’s survivors include her son, David Wert and his wife, Sandra, of Lewes, DE; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved feline companion, Susie.
Helen worked for Pennsylvania Department of Mines and Mineral Industries in Harrisburg, after more than 30 years of service as a typist. She also worked for Bag Processors, Inc. in Mechanicsburg for ten years. Helen was a member of Trindle Springs Lutheran Church and VFW Memorial Post #6704 in Mechanicsburg, where she served as past auxiliary president from 1982 to 1983. She enjoyed playing Bingo, crocheting, and playing the organ. Helen didn’t mind braving the cold and riding snowmobiles with her family. Ones of her greatest joys in life was going to Christmas parties, where her son was David dressed as Santa Claus.
Helen’s family will be remembering her life privately. Burial in Westminster Cemetery in Carlisle will be at the family’s convenience.
