Helen Powell (Wondahn) Wonsia

Helen Powell (Wondahn) Wonsia, age 58, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Harrisburg, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021. Helen was born on Friday, June 28, 1963, in Gbor Zuoplay, Nimba County, Liberia to the late Chief Deemie “Monrovia” Wondahn and Madam Kwienah (Torgbei Gbalue) Wondahn.

Helen is survived by her husband of 37 years, Reverend Joshua “Josh” Zamesia Wonsia, her two sisters: Mary Wondahn, Pauline Wondahn and half-sister, Martha Wondahn all of Liberia; her four children: Gonwo Wondah of Nimba County, Liberia, Marvie Joshua Wonsia, Hannah Wonsia, and Peter G. Wonsia, all of USA; grandchildren: Antonio Moses Korti, Edana Konah, Makayla Wonsia, Maleah Wonsia, Astelon Wondahn all of USA, Markintosh Wondahn, Joshua Wondahn, Hannah Wondahn, Anicia Wondahn Papay Wondahn, Blessing Wondahn and Aries Wondahn, all of Liberia; stepchildren: Angie Kou Wonsia and Irene Mankerser Wonsia of Monrovia, Liberia and a host of other relatives including her beloved cousin Honorable Zaiye B. Dehkee, who played a fatherly role during her lifetime, her daughter-in-law, Kolu Wonsia, her son-in-law Baysah Korti all of USA, several nieces and nephews.

All are welcome to join Helen’s family at her in-person viewing on Thursday, January 6, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; and her virtual gathering of family and friends via video chat or telephone beginning at 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.  Helen’s burial with graveside committal and virtual committal via video chat or telephone will begin at 11:30 a.m. in Mechanicsburg Cemetery, 137 West Marble Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. Helen’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the burial.
