Helen “Bucky” Agnes (Buck) Ludwig
A Mother to All -
Helen “Bucky” Agnes (Buck) Ludwig, age 82, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Pottsville, passed away at home on Saturday, October 27, 2018. Helen was born on Sunday, April 19, 1936 in Pottsville to the late Helen (Weaver) Buck Sneddon. In addition to her mother, Helen is preceded in death by her step father, Thomas Alan Sneddon.
Helen’s survivors include her husband of 64 years, Henry “Hal” Amos Ludwig, Jr.; her six children: Henry “Hank” Amos Ludwig, III of York, Tracy Lee Ludwig and her husband, Bryan “Buck” Lerew, of Mechanicsburg, Patricia “Patti” Marie Lush of Camp Hill, Lisa Ann Kyler of Harrisburg, Karen Jayne Wells and her husband, Arthur Wells, Sr., of Mechanicsburg, Thomas “Tom” Alan Ludwig and his wife, Kathleen, Of Mechanicsburg; her seven grandchildren; and her 11 great-grandchildren.
“Bucky” graduated from Pottsville High School as part of the class of 1954, where she served as head drum majorette. She was a former employee of Stuarts Clothing Store in the Capital City Mall in Camp Hill, where she served as an assistant manager. Helen also worked at Konhaus Markets in Mechanicsburg and Kayak Pools. She was a member of the Penn’s Woods Painters and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for over 60 years. Helen volunteered very actively for many years with The Arc of Cumberland & Perry Counties (CPARC).
One of her most cherished traditions was baking sand tarts and other cookies with her great-granddaughters at Christmas. Helen was a very artistic woman that shared her many talents with others, especially the many charitable organizations she was active with. She held a special place in her heart for her many feline and canine companions; but family was her greatest love. Helen’s focus in life was to be a good mother. As her children grew older, this shifted to the grandchildren. She was known as a mother to all because her love and concern was projected outward to many.
