Helen “Honey” Louise (Mowery) Anderson
74 Years of Marriage -
Helen “Honey” Louise (Mowery) Anderson, 93, of Carlisle , and formerly of Mechanicsburg , went home to be with her Lord and Savior while ending her days at the Church of God Home in Carlisle on Monday, September 10, 2012, daughter of the late Paul Mowery and Janet (Ankerbrandt) Mowery. Honey lived a full and blessed life with her husband, family and friends.
Honey was married for 74 years to her loving husband and best friend, Lorenzo “Andy” Wilson Anderson whom she married on February 18, 1938. Their life together was a true love story. Together, they had three children, the late Richard E. Anderson and his loving widow Ginnie Anderson Kane of Mechanicsburg, Fred E. Anderson, Sr. and his wife Bonnie of Halifax, Bonnie Kudak and her late husband Leonard of Lewisberry. They shared 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, a brother, John Earl Mowery of Mechanicsburg, and many nieces and nephews. Honey was preceded in death by her three brothers, Paul Mowery, Jr., John Arthur Mowery, and William H. Mowery; her sister, Margaret Holland; her son, Richard E. Anderson; her grandson, Steven W. Anderson; her granddaughter, Sherry Bobb; and her great-grandson, Derrick Lee Shettel.
Honey graduated from Dillsburg High School and Harrisburg School of Beauty . She later worked in the Weis Corporation and Keefer’s IGA . She was a long-time and faithful member of First Church of God in Mechanicsburg and a member of the Rose Society of Harrisburg. Honey enjoyed her family, friends, playing cards, volunteering for her church, cooking, and showing award winning roses.

All are welcome to join Honey’s family at her viewing on Friday, September 14, 2012, from 6:30 to 7:30 at Church of God Home , 801 North Hanover Street, Carlisle, PA 17013, and on Saturday, September 15, 2012, from 10:30 until time of service at 12:00 at First Church of God , 28 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with Chaplain Bradley V. Moore officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill. Honey’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at her church following the burial.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the First Church of God or the “Forever Caring Fund” at the Church of God Home.
