Helen “Jean” Jean (Lewis) Heisler, age 92, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully at Messiah Lifeways at Messiah Village in Mechanicsburg on Monday, October 29, 2018.  Jean was born on Sunday, November 22, 1925 in Pottsville to the late William J. Lewis, Sr. and Helen L. (Remensnyder) Lewis.  Helen was the widow of George Henry Heisler, whom she married on August 5, 1946, and who died on January 30, 2010.  In addition to her parents and husband, Jean is preceded in death by her five siblings: William J. Lewis, Jr., Stuart Lewis, Russel Lewis, Burton Lewis, and Susan Mealing.

Jean’s survivors include her four children: John Heisler of Mechanicsburg, Thomas “Tom” Heisler and his wife, Kathy, of Mechanicsburg, Stephen “Steve” Heisler and his wife, Barbara, Mechanicsburg, Helen Greata and her husband, Sebastian “Bud”, of Mount Pleasant, SC; her six grandchildren: Elizabeth, Christopher, Rachael, Andrew, Ryan,  Devon; and her two great-granddaughters: Alex and Madison.

Jean graduated from Pottsville High School as part of the class of 1943.  She was a member of St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg, where she was a part of the Hems and Hymns.  For 30 years, Jean taught sewing and other skills for the 4H club.  Over these years, she developed lifelong friendships and her club was recognized for its many achievements.  Jean found joy in reading and she often devoured books while watching the birds at the feeder.

All are welcome to join Jean’s family at her viewing on Monday, November 5, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055 with a service to begin at 12:30 p.m. at St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church, 117 West Keller Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor Eric Anderson officiating.  Jean’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at her church immediately following the service.  Burial will follow in Trindle Spring Cemetery in Mechanicsburg.

The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to everyone at Messiah Lifeways at Messiah Village in Mechanicsburg for all the loving care they provided to Jean.
