Henry E. Wenger, Sr.

Henry Edward Wenger, Sr., age 79, of Mechanicsburg, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. Henry was born on Thursday, January 24, 1946, in Mechanicsburg to the late Gerald Leroy Wenger and Anna Mae (Lehman) Wenger. In addition to his parents, Henry is preceded in death by his brother, Jeffrey A. Wenger.

Henry’s survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jane Hastings (Kammerer) Wenger; his two children; H. Edward "Ed” Wenger, Jr. and his wife, Andrea E. of Williamstown, PA and Susan Rebecca Ritter and her husband, Mark of Laporte, PA; his three grandchildren: Anna E. Ritter, Ethan B. Ritter, and Jacob T. Wenger; his three siblings: Charles E. Wenger and his wife, Beverly of Carlisle, Stephen L. Wenger and his wife Cindi of East Berlin, and Rebecca A. Shenk and her husband, Donald of Orrstown, his sister-in-law, Sandra K. Wenger; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Henry graduated from Cumberland Valley High School as part of the class of 1964. He retired in 2010 after many years working as a farmer. Henry was a member of Grantham Brethren in Christ for many years. He was a longtime member of the Mechanicsburg Fire Department. He enjoyed collecting antique farm equipment, flying as a private pilot, and the occasional round of golf. 

All are welcome to join Henry’s family at his gathering on Monday, February 3, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:30 a.m. at Buhrig Funeral & Cremation, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Donald Shenk officiating. Henry’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the service. Interment will follow the reception in the Mechanicsburg Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Henry’s family invites those wishing to celebrate his life to make a memorial contribution to the Gospel Tide Broadcasting Association, P.O. Box 399 Chambersburg, PA 17201.
