Ilene “Dutch” Mae (Smith) Mihalik, age 85, of York , and formerly of Mechanicsburg , died at Manor Care of York on Saturday, April 18, 2015. Ilene was born on Friday, August 9, 1929 in York to the late Gervis Smith and Mary V. McGuigan. Ilene was the widow of Eugene “Mike” Joseph Mihalik, whom she married in 1980, and who died on December 25, 1990.
Ilene’s survivors include her daughter: Deborah LeSage of York; her grandchildren: Andrew LeSage and his wife, Kymn, of Wisconsin, Malinda Tawney and her husband, Ronald, of Red Lion, Brad LeSage of California; and her eight great-grandchildren.
Ilene graduated from Red Lion High School as part of the class of 1947. She worked in dental supply manufacturing for over 30 years. Ilene was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mechanicsburg, a volunteer at the Shining Light Thrift Shop in Harrisburg, and a Girl Scouts assistant troop leader in East Prospect, PA. Ilene was fond of bus trips, word searches, and homemade waffles with ice cream. She enjoyed tanning and loved the beach, especially Wildwood and Ocean City, NJ. More than anything, Ilene lived for her grandchildren; having sleepovers with them and spending time at Disney World.
All are welcome to join Ilene’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Friday, April 24, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:30 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor Tab Cosgrove officiating. Ilene’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Warm Hearts Café , next door to Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , immediately following the service. Burial will be private and at the family’s convenience in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.
