Ira John Sharp
Ira John Sharp, age 58, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Cresson, PA, died at Select Specialty Hospital on Friday, March 27, 2020. Ira was born on Sunday, September 17, 1961 in Portland, ME to the late Leilani (Dutko) Sharp and Richard Elliott Sharp.
Ira’s survivors include his wife Audrey Lynn (Hepner) Sharp; his son Ira John Sharp Jr. and wife Anna of Enola, his stepdaughter Molly Dianne Leader of Camp Hill; his four grandchildren: Lilly, Sammy, Gabe and JJ; his four siblings: Richard “Rick” Sharp of Carlisle, Charles “Chuck” Meehan of Mechanicsburg, Lisa (Sharp) Dutil of Duncansville, Kenneth “Kenny” Lefort of Cresson; several nieces and nephews; and three pet companions.
Ira proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1979 to 1983 as a Munitions Maintenance Specialist, stationed at Eglin Air Force Base, near Pensacola, FL. Additionally, Ira was a member of the Honor Guard, honorably discharged in 1983, and was an active member of the American Legion Post 109 in Mechanicsburg PA.
Ira celebrated life through numerous hobbies including: hunting and fishing, having a love for the outdoors, shooting pool with friends, playing a round of golf; and loving aviation so much, he earned his private pilot license.
Ira will be missed by family and friends.
Private interment with military honors will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville. Public services and celebration of life event will be announced and scheduled at a time to be determined.
