Ira Glenn Gilleland, III

Ira Glenn Gilleland, III, age 69, of Mechanicsburg, passed away at Holy Spirit Hospital on Friday, September 2, 2016.  Glenn was born on Tuesday, December 17, 1946 in Havre de Grace, MD to the late Ira G. Gilleland, Jr. and Josephine E. (Chalk) Gilleland.  Glenn’s survivors include his son, Michael Jeffrey Gilleland: and his two grandchildren: Jagger and Dia.

Glenn graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1965.  He served in the United States Navy before spending years working at and retiring from the Naval Support Activity Base in Mechanicsburg after which he returned to the base as a contractor.  Glenn’s family and close friends hold their memories of him close to their hearts and invite you to share your memories of Glenn with them during the viewing and services or by posting them at Buhrig.com.

All are welcome to join Glenn’s family at his viewing on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at 1:30 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant George Spangler officiating.  Burial will follow in Tri County Memorial Gardens in Lewisberry.  Glenn’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at the Hillside Cafe, 589 Salem Road, Etters, PA 17319, following the burial.

Contributions in celebration of Glenn’s life and in keeping with his spirit of helping veteran’s in need should be made in memory of Glenn to the veteran’s group of your choosing.
