Irene E. (Muthard) Smith

Irene E. (Muthard) Smith, 98, of Harrisburg , and formerly of Bethlehem , died on Saturday, February 9, 2013.  She was a graduate of Whitehall High School and the Allentown Hospital School of Nursing.

Irene was a long time private duty nurse, loved to garden, collect minerals,  and was a member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Bethlehem.  Irene was predeceased by her husband, Robert C. Smith,  with whom she closely shared most of her time and travels.

Irene’s survivors include her loving daughter Roberta J. Sims and her husband Ronald M. of Frelinghuysen Twp, NJ;  grandson Ronald and his wife Michele and great-grandson; and grandson Christopher R. Sims and his wife Susan of Rochester, NY; loving son Robert C. Smith II and his wife Gloria of Mechanicsburg, PA; granddaughter L. Amanda Gonzalez and her husband H. Danilo, great-granddaughter Lily Elizabeth; granddaughter Jenny S. Gardner and her husband Michael, and great-granddaughter Kalina Mae.

Irene wanted to share her most heartfelt thanks to all her family and friends in Pennsylvania, especially Michael Klo, and in Florida, especially Re-Etta and Lon Elkin, who so lovingly cared for her.

Cremation and services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial in Fountain Hill C emetery , in Bethlehem, PA will be private. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church , 474 Vine Street, Bethlehem, PA 18015.
