Irene Louise (Beam) Orris
A Friend to Everyone -
Irene Louise (Beam) Orris, age 93, of Carlisle, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Sunday, January 29, 2017. Irene was born on Friday, October 19, 1923 in Summerdale to the late George Warren Beam and Goldie Irene (Zimmerman) Beam. Irene was the widow of Paul Eugene Orris, whom she married on October 19, 1943, and who died on March 8, 2006. The two met at Rainbow Roller Rink in Mechanicsburg and they waited until he returned from the war to marry. In addition to her parents and husband, Irene is preceded in death by her brother, George R. Beam.
Irene’s survivors include her son, Bradley Eugene Orris of Mechanicsburg; her two grandchildren: Lindsey Emma Orris, Dylan Eugene Orris both of Mechanicsburg; her three brothers: Ronald, Robert, Donald Beam; her four sisters: Lois Milakovic, Jean Morgan, Linda Eslinger, Shirley Thompson; and several nieces and nephews.
Irene graduated from Enola High School as part of the class of 1941. She was a lifelong member of the First Church of God in Mechanicsburg. Irene was a volunteer at Seidle Memorial Hospital and the Church of God Home. She loved the color purple, crocheting blankets, sewing, and collecting teddy bears. Irene enjoyed traveling to Ocean City, MD on bus trips with her neighbor. She was an excellent cook who loved using ingredients that were grown in her garden or that she would can, especially tomatoes. Irene was the sweetest lady who was a friend to every person she met and everyone just loved her.
All are welcome to join Irene’s family at her viewing on Thursday, February 2, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Friday, February 3, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Tracy A. Conner officiating. Burial will follow in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill. Honored to be pallbearers are Dylan Orris, Gary Morgan, Larry Eslinger, and Paul Thompson. Irene’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at her church, the First Church of God in Mechanicsburg, following the burial.
