Isabelle B. (Brown) Alford, 86, of Camp Hill and formerly of Delmar, DE died at Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on Monday, March 12, 2012. She was born in Delmar, DE on Friday, May 29, 1925 daughter of the late John and Hattie Elliot Brown. Isabelle was the wife of Robert Lee Alford who she married on October 10, 1951.
Isabelle graduated from Delmar High School as part of the class of 1943 and was the head majorette in the school band. She was formerly employed as a bookkeeper at the Bank of Delmar. She was a 51 year member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, Mechanicsburg. Isabelle loved to read books and was known to finish one or two books a week. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. Isabelle had a collection of over 125 bells which the children enjoyed counting for her. Above all, she was a very kind and loving mother who never raised her voice.
Isabelle’s survivors include her loving husband of 60 years: Robert Lee Alford; a daughter Monta E. Gentile and her husband Gerald S. of Camp Hill; a son Robert Lee Alford Jr. and his wife Deborah T. of Camp Hill; a grandson Brian E. Alford; a sister Esther Tomasetti of Claymont, DE and several nieces and nephews. Among those preceding Isabelle in death are her siblings: Charles Brown; Betty Ann Brown; William F. Brown and Mary Ellen Byrd.
All are welcome to join Isabelle’s family at her viewing on Saturday, March 17, 2012, from 10:00 until time of service at 11:00 at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church , with Reverend Norm A. Evans officiating. Entombment will immediately follow in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Camp Hill.
