Loving Wife, Mother, and Neighborhood Mom -

Ivy Florence (Hoy) Moyer, age 77, of Mechanicsburg , died at home peacefully and surrounded by her loving family on Monday, February 23, 2015.  Ivy was born on Thursday, September 16, 1937, to the late Nevin Bruce Hoy and Florence Catherine (Wagner) Hoy.  In addition to her parents, Ivy is preceded in death by her brothers:  Paul, Norman, and Glenn.

Ivy’s survivors include her loving husband of 57 years, Richard Edward Moyer; her children: Deborah “Deb” Sue Moyer of Mechanicsburg, Joyce Marie (Moyer) Garner and her husband, Rusty, of Mechanicsburg, Donna Ann (Moyer) Gelsinger and her husband, David, of East Berlin; her grandchildren: Erica Grothe and her husband, Christopher, Jacob Gelsinger, Isaac Gelsinger, Zachary Garner; her siblings: Gladys Peck and her husband, Dean, of Mechanicsburg, Jay Hoy, and his wife, Marilyn, of Carlisle, Emma Whitcomb of Carlisle, George Hoy of Mechanicsburg, Arlene Hoy of Mechanicsburg; her sisters-in-law, Martha Hoy, of Mechanicsburg, Jean Moyer of Hummelstown; and several nieces and nephews.

Ivy graduated from the very first Cumberland Valley High School class of 1955.  Ivy was a member of Silver Spring Presbyterian Church in Mechanicsburg for 57 years, where she served as a babysitter in the nursery.  Ivy enjoyed working at Rothermel’s Florist in Mechanicsburg.  She was a full-time homemaker, known as the “neighborhood mom” and babysitter; and Ivy’s house and yard were always filled with children.  Ivy loved traveling with her husband on tour buses, motor coaches, and Rohrer Bus trips.  Her family, especially her husband, remembers her good cooking.  Most of all, Ivy loved spending time with her grandchildren.

All are welcome to join Ivy’s family at her viewing on Monday, March 2, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Bebb Wheeler Stone officiating.  Burial will follow in Mechanicsburg Cemetery in Mechanicsburg.  Ivy’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Warm Hearts Café , next door to Myers – Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , following the services.

The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania and the Silver Spring Presbyterian Church family who so lovingly cared for and supported Ivy and her family.
