Izora “Izzy” Fern (Scott) Hoerner, age 86, of Camp Hill , and formerly of Mechanicsburg , died at Golden Living – West Shore on Monday, July 7, 2014. Izzy was born on Monday, May 28, 1928 in Mt. Holly Springs to the late Charles Scott and Bessie (Sweeney) Scott. In addition to her parents, Izzy is preceded in death by her daughter, Connie Lee Fahnestock; and her four brothers and five sisters.
Izzy’s survivors include her son, George Thomas Fahnestock, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Lewisberry; and several nieces and nephews.
Izzy cleaned homes in the Mechanicsburg area for several years. She was very meticulous and continued to clean, even as a resident at Golden Living. Izzy loved to bake and spend time at the shore, crabbing and visiting lighthouses. She enjoyed rides in the country with her son and daughter-in-law. Izzy adored children. She would share the many stuffed animals her son would give to her with the children. Izzy was known to all of her friends as the lady with the contagious laugh.
All are welcome to join Izzy’s family at her visitation on Friday, July 11, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant George Spangler officiating.
Burial of her urn will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Churchtown. Cremation was private and at the convenience of the family. Izzy’s family invites everyone to join them immediately after her service for a time of food and fellowship at Hoss’s Steak & Sea House, 61 Gettysburg Pike, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
