James “Jim” Edward Barger

Loving and Hard-Working -

James “Jim” Edward Barger, age 84, of Carlisle, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, went home into the outstretched arms of Jesus on Tuesday, August 4, 2020.  Jim was born on Friday, November 29, 1935, in Mechanicsburg to the late James C. Barger and Martha Barger.  In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his son, Brian James Barger, and his sister, Mary Rider.

Jim was a loving husband to his devoted wife of almost 66 years, Beulah Alverta Barger; a loving father to his five children:  Bradford “Brad” Barger and wife Bev of Carlisle, Brian Barger, Karen Beissel and husband Doug of Mechanicsburg, Keith Barger, Barbara Starner and husband Les of Gardners; and a loving grandfather to his six grandchildren; and his 12 great-grandchildren.

Jim worked on the family farm for many years.  He retired from Master Mix Feed Mill in Camp Hill after 44 years of service working as a laborer.  During his leisure time, Jim was an outdoorsman and avid deer hunter.  Jim devoutly attended Emanuel Baptist Church in Mechanicsburg.  His wife and family will miss the blessing of Jim's physical presence in their lives.

All are welcome to join Jim’s family at his public viewing and virtual viewing via video chat on Wednesday, August 12, 2020, from 10:45 a.m. until time of public and virtual funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.  Jim’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the service.  A graveside service and burial will follow the reception at 2:45 p.m. in Slate Hill Cemetery in Camp Hill.  Pastor Steve Crews will officiate at both the funeral and graveside services.
