James Roland McMinn, age 75, of Enola , died at Holy Spirit Hospital on Friday, April 25, 2014. James was born on Thursday, October 13, 1938 in Eden Township, Lancaster County to George Ernest McMinn and Pearl Virginia (Herr) McMinn. James was the widower of Rosanna Mae (Wolfe) McMinn to whom he was married for 45 years.
James’s survivors include his children, James R. McMinn, Jr. and his wife Debra of Duncannon, Donna K. Witmer of Enola, Richard A. McMinn and his wife Linda of Carlisle, John H. McMinn of Mechanicsburg; his grandchildren, Michael, Brian, Alan, Tonya, Michelle, Jamie, Samantha, John, Joey, and Erica; his 15 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Mary Shaak and her husband Franklin of Elizabethtown, Janet Smith of Campbelltown, Vivian Mendenhall of Quarryville, Dorothy Wilson of SC, Ross McMinn of FL, and Bessie “Betty” Peters of Conestoga; and several nieces and nephews. Among those preceding James in death are his grandson, Thomas McMinn; his son-in-law, Patrick Witmer; and his siblings, George McMinn, Richard McMinn, Martha Mendenhall and Lillian Strubel.
James retired from Pennsy Supply after several years of service working as a truck driver. He was also formerly an employee of Leon Wintermyer, Inc. and Gates Paving . James served with the United States Marine Corps . He was a fan of NASCAR and the Miami Dolphins . James loved to cook and was a very self-sufficient man.
All are welcome to join James’ family at his visitation on Thursday, May 8, 2014, from 2:30 until time of service at 3:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. Cremation and burial in Woodlawn Cemetery will be private and at the family’s convenience.
